~MY ANCESTOR~
George may have come to America in about 1748 on the EDINBURGH. In 1766-1777 he was living in Rowan Co. North Carolina and probably married MARGARET COON (KUHN), daughter of MICHAEL COON (KUHN) in North Carolina. About 1778, they moved to Fayette Co., Kentucky.
In 1796 in the Woodford Co. petition of inhabitants, he is listed as "a very old man". He is then listed in the 1800 Tax List of Henry Co., Kentucky.
On July, 1765, it was ordered that George Admire have a lycs (license) to "Keep Ordinary" at his own dwelling house in the county (granted a license to be a tavern keeper). No doubt this is where he gave food & drink to the Revolutionary troops in North Carolina.
From Rubyann Darnell: There is no documentation that says George Admire was a Patriot because "he gave libations to the Rev. War Soldiers." He was deemed a Patriot for providing corn and fodder to the cause thus the DAR approved papers for the tombstone based on that provision and said nothing about 'libations to the soldiers.' Carol Anderson and her sister, Sharon Baldwin used the documentation I found in North Carolina Treasurer and Comptroller Records - Revolutionary War Accounts, Volume 1, page 159, Report 37, dated June-Sept 1781 voucher 4920 to "George Admire for Corn & fodder."

"...on 2nd of June 1800 the bonds were signed in Shelby Co, KY for the marriage of George Admire and Sarah Lock, his second wife. George and Margaret may have married in Germany or Pennsylvania. No reason to assume they were married in North Carolina. Michael Coon got his land in North Carolina 1761 and the Admire-Coon marriage was ca 1751 or before as son John Michael Coon was born ca 1752; deceased by Aug 1778. Married ca 1772 the widow, Elizabeth Rupard in Rowan co, NC. They had two daughters.
