He was a teacher of mathematics, Monson Academy, Wilbraham, MA, 1882-1884; principal Pepperell (MA) High School, 1884-1886. He married Mary Ellen Whitcombe, of Boston, Nov. 25, 1886. He was professor of mathematics Drury College, Springfield, MO. 1887-90. Children, born in Missouri:

His Mother-in-law, Addie L. Whitcombe, lived with them in Melrose and then Boston, until her passing. His widowed brother Dr. Alfred S. Amadon and young niece Bertha(b. 8 May 1901), also lived with them.
