She and Byron shared 66 years together. She worked beside him on the family farm and at the saw mill. She professionally cleaned for over 20 years, both at the Tannery and the Scott Webb Medical Center. She also clerked at Wright’s General Store.
She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, reading, and keeping her home nice and clean. She made the best yeast rolls and baked beans. She liked her rock garden, enjoyed feeding birds, watching the wildlife, and taking in stray cats. She was a bell collector and liked her little trinkets and antiques. She and Red were blessed by being able to raise two of their granddaughters, Heather and Sonja. She loved her family most of all and enjoyed being together with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Vanadestine and husband Terry of Pittsfield; son, Randy Ballard and wife Lisa of Hartland; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Packard; nieces and nephews; and her cat, Susan.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Byron “Red” Ballard; three sons: Jimmy, Steven and Joey; great grandson, Riley; and her brother, Chester Packard.
A graveside service will be held in the summer at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield, with Kevin Brooks officiating.
