Mr. Edward Leon Bolden, age 60 of Blackshear, died suddenly Monday afternoon (August 13, 2007) following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in Bacon County, but had lived many years in Ware County before moving to Pierce County in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his father James Edward Bolden.

He was retired from CSX Railroad as a Carman for 40 years, and was a retired fire fighter with the Blackshear Fire Department, and also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for City of Blackshear and Waycross. He was a charter member of the Blackshear Jaycees. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 11th Armored Calvary where he received 2 purple hearts. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a former R.A. leader, and also attended First Baptist Church in Blackshear.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Myra Bolden of Blackshear, 1 son Jeffrey (Toni Chelle) Bolden of Blackshear, 1 daughter Lori (Lee) Boatright of Blackshear. 3 grandchildren: Fisher Bolden, Marah Smith, and Natalee Boatright all of Blackshear, his mother Oveida Mattox Bolden, a step-grandmother Wan L Mattox of Blackshear, a brother Freeland (Becky) Bolden of Brantley County. 1 sister-in-law Marlene (Danny) Dowling of Blackshear, 3 brothers-in-law: Linton (Georgia) Todd of Waycross, K.R. (Shirley) Fulford of Waycross, Johnny (Jeanette) Todd of Jacksonville, Fl., and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at First Baptist Church in Blackshear. Interment will follow in Beulah Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
