She was born on July 19, 1951 in Warren, OH to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Gee) Adkins. On July 28, 1979 in Kingman, KS, she married LeRoy A. Mertens; he survives.
She worked at the Liberty Landfill in Buffalo and was known as “Patty Packer.” Patty enjoyed crocheting, gardening and canning all her gardening goodies. She especially loved and enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren coming to “Meme and Papaw’s” house. Patty was the best and greatest wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and sister.
She is survived by her husband; ten children; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister; one aunt; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins and Friends. Patty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Constance "Connie" Wheeldon; three sisters; and one niece, Heather Massey.
Visitation will be private for the family only. Graveside service will be open to everyone at the Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, IN on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 1 PM. Pastor Doug McCombs will officiate.
