AN AGED LADY DEAD
Mrs. Susan Jane Wimer, aged 88 years, died at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ward M. Wimer, Sunday evening, December 31, 1939, following an illness of several weeks from complications due to her advanced age. Mrs. Wimer, was born near Lexington, Virginia, a daughter of Christopher and Mary Palmer. She was married to the late Ambe Wimer. They resided at Crabbottom, Virginia for many years. For a number years Mrs. Wimer spent the winter months in Marlinton and had made many friends here. She had been a life long member of the Presbyterian Church and was a woman of beautiful Christian character. Mrs. Wimer's father and a brother served as Confederate soldiers during the War Between the States, and she vividly remembered many instances of this terrible conflict. Surviving Mrs. Wimer are five of her eight children. Her daughters are: Mrs. Merle Kramer, of Frank; and Mrs. Ella Parsons of Cumberland. Her sons are: Reed Wimer of Staunton; Meade Wimer of Frank; and Ward Wimer of Marlinton. On Tuesday, the body was taken to Crabbottom, Va., where services were held in the Presbyterian Church with the pastor Rev. Mr. Johnson officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. C. Wool, pastor of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church. Interment was made in the cemetery at Crabbottom.—Pocahontas Times.
