Charles B. Collins died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at Fish Memorial Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach.
Mr. Collins was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Sanford to Charles C. Collins and Sally Lola Layfield Collins. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in both the European and Pacific theaters.
Charles earned his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in Chicago and a master's degree in organic chemistry from Stetson University in DeLand. He was employed by Eastman Kodak as a district marketing manager and worked for that company for over 35 years.
Mr. Collins was married for 46 years to Alice E. Johnson, Rochester, N.Y., until her death in 1990. He and his family were residents of Warwick, N.Y., for 20 years (1965-1985) until he retired and returned to Florida. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 17, both of New Smyrna Beach.
Mr. Collins will be greatly missed by surviving family, including his brother, Randall; daughters, Georgette, Jane, Karine and Leslie; grandsons, Chris, Keith, Tony, Tommy and Aidan; and great-grandchildren, Divvia, MacKayla, Nicole, Austin, Alena, Tori-Belle and Liam. Mr. Collins was also the father of Eric Charles Collins, who worked at Kennedy Space Center and passed away in 2000.
