Born June 18, 1902 at New Grenada, he was a son of Newton Galbraith Cunningham and Priscilla Belle (McClain) Cunningham. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Longacre on May 15, 1922, by the Rev. Mr. Hatch. The couple lived their married life in the Mount Union area.
His wife survives, along with four children: Mrs. Blase (Phyllis) Cindric of Somerset, Mrs. John (Joann) Remek of Mount Union, Ms. Kay Rosenberry of Mount Union, and Fredric Merrill Cunningham of Piscataway, N.J. One infant son preceded him in death. There are six grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Ruth C. Harley of Shippensburg, Ernest King Cunningham of Salem, OH, and Dr. D. Merrill Cunningham of Mount Union. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death: Raynsford Ullner Cunningham, Mrs. James (Mae) McDonaugh, and Arthur Addison Cunningham.
Mr. Cunningham had been associated with the Saxe Stores for more than 45 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. He belonged to the Mount Union Lions Club, and was a past president of the club. He was a member of the Mount Union Chamber of Commerce and was co-chairman of the retail division of that chamber.
