Henson Leon Hatch Henson Leon Hatch, 74, of Pleasant Grove, returned to his Heavenly Father on December 11, 2004, of natural causes. Leon was born April 8, 1930, in Vernal, Utah, to Marion and Musetta Eaton Hatch. Leon joined the Navy on December 8, 1948, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in September, 1952, after which he worked at Geneva Steel and on the family farm. After being laid-off at Geneva, he worked for the Provo River Water Users Association. While there, he applied and was hired at the Utah State Prison in Bluffdale. He worked in several jobs, including Associate Warden, and retired on August 1, 1982. He graduated with a B. S. Degree in sociology and history from B.Y.U. in 1968. He received a master's degree in sociology and business management from the University of Utah in 1976. Leon married Shirley Rowland on June 28, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived all their married life in Pleasant Grove, where they raised their children. Leon was an active member of the LDS Church. He loved life, had patience, a big heart, and love for all! He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons: Michael Leon (Electa) Hatch, Pleasant Grove; and Donald Leland Hatch, Pleasant Grove; daughter, Janice Messersmith, Salt Lake; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; baby daughter, Kathy Lynn Hatch; sister, Marba Keetch, infant sister, Elaine Hatch; and brother, Eldon Hatch. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Northfield Sixth Ward Chapel, 405 West 1300 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove; and, at the church, on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with Military Rites conduct by the American Legion Post 72.
