LEVELLAND (Special) Services for Elbert "Red" Allen, 89, of Brownfield will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the George C. Price Funeral Chapel with the Rev. E.R. Latham, pastor at United Pentecostal Church in Coleman, officiating.

Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of George C. Price Funeral Directors of Levelland.

He died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in Brownfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1910, in Liberty Hill. He married Frankie Rhodes on March 22, 1947, in Big Spring. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Seale Sparks, on Aug. 3, 1996.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Sage Terrace Pentecostal Church in Brownfield and worked in the oil fields from 1947 until 1975 in the Sundown, Levelland and Denver City areas. He retired from Texas Pacific Oil Company on Sept. 1, 1975, and moved to Brownfield from Plains in 1979. He was a manager of the Brownfield Housing Authority since 1980.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, a sister, eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
