PIETER VAN HUIZEN III
Funeral services were held Oct. 19 for Pieter Renzius Van Huizen III, 84, who died near his home in the Pine Ridge district near Ukiah on Oct. 12. The Rev. Robert Groves officiated at the rites from the Eversole Mortuary and inurnment was at the Chapel of the Chimes, Santa Rosa.
Mr. Van Huizen, a retired chemist, and his wife had made the Pine Ridge country their summer home for 41 years. Mrs. Van Huizen died several years ago. Mr. Huizen, who was extremely active for his 84 years, walked from his home, about 12 miles from town, to Ukiah several times a week.
He was burning brush near his home and fell. While unconscious he suffered burns which caused his death.
Mr. Van Huizen was born Feb. 11, 1869, in Holland.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jacomena Maybeck, Berkeley; a son, Pieter Jan Renzius Van Huizen IV, Oklahoma; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
