He was a veteran who served with the United States Army in the Korean War as a Sergeant. He was employed for decades as a Produce Manager for the Giant Market Store on Meadow Avenue. In later years, he was a supervisor for the One Source Cleaning Service Co.
He was a member of the Christ Presbyterian Church, and recently the Dunmore Presbyterian Church. He was an avid sports fan and a long time Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a member of the West Scranton Golf League and the Christ Presbyterian Bowling Team, where he won numerous trophies in each league. He was a kind and gentle person who had a very easygoing personality. He loved his family and was always there for them.
The family would like to thank Allied Skilled Nursing, and especially the nurses and aides on second floor south for the numerous years of care.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Elizabeth Hamborsky; his nieces, Nancy Walsh and son, Bob; Judy Emiliani and husband, Jack; Cynthia Dagger and husband, Richard; Elizabeth Deering and husband, Donald; and nephews, Allen Gardner and wife, Suzanne; and Ralph Jenkin. Also several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marjorie Ann; and sisters, Mary Jenkin and Margaret Gardner.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted and are under the care of Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the convenience of the family.
