WHITE HALL -
W. Harding Ruffin, 83, of White Hall, died Saturday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff.
He was born Oct. 7, 1920, at DeWitt (Arkansas County), a son of the late William Howell Ruffin and Valeria Trussell Ruffin.
He was reared and received his education at DeWitt, graduating from DeWitt High School in 1938. He attended Kilgore Junior College and Arkansas A&M (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello).
He served in the armed forces during World War II.
He worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal and retired in 1976 as a quality control specialist after 34 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of White Hall, where he served for 11 years as Sunday School superintendent. He was also a member and past president of the White Hall Lions Club, member and past commander of American Legion Post 332 and past president of the White Hall School Board.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannie Dickson; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Adams Ruffin, whom he married on June 28, 1941, at DeWitt; one daughter, Judy Schneider of Texarkana, Texas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with Bob Harper officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of White Hall, 8708 Dollarway Road, White Hall, AR 71602 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
