Marable Rites Are Held Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Creighton Marable, 76, were to be conducted this afternoon, at 2 o'clock at Bishop Methodist Church with the Rev. Jery Dillard, pastor, and the Rev. Bobby Partridge, pastor of Gordon's Chapel Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was to follow in Bearden Cemetery.

Mrs. Marable died in a local hospital Monday at 12:35 a.m. after a short illness. She was a native of Jackson County but had lived in Oconee County for 55 years.

Pall-bearers will be Montgomery Kenimer, Elmer Hardigree, Hoke Turnbull, Harvey Dennis, Lorenzo Hardigree, and Victor Kenimer.

Mrs. Marable is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Luther Turner, and Mrs. Carol Coleman, both of Bishop, Mrs. J.H. Barnett, Watkinsville, Mrs. W.E. Terry, College Park, and Mrs. John A. Short, Athens; two sons, A.V. Marable, Bishop, and Roger Marable, Lizella; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Johnson, Denver, Colo., and Miss Elizabeth Creighton, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dora Marable, Athens, and Miss Maggie Marable, Watkinsville; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Marable was preceeded in death by her husband Andrew Marable. Mrs. Marable was an active member of Bishop Methodist Church.
