Caroline was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Barnes Chapman from Wiltshire, England. Her baptismal record indicates she was born 8 Apr 1866 and baptized on 2 Sep 1866 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. She was one of six siblings. Her father George died in 1868 and her mother married John Oatley in 1873 and had four more children. Caroline is on the 1871 census in Wiltshire, England at age 6 with her widowed mother and siblings. Her sister, Sarah Ann Chapman Morton came to New York and died in Brooklyn on 13 Aug 1908. According to her death certificate she was buried in Evergreen cemetery. Caroline's half-brother, John Henry James Oatley came to New York in 1930 at the age of 54 and died in Manhattan 26 Feb 1935. His wife and family remained in England. He was buried in Hartsdale in Westchester county, New York.

Caroline was the wife of Albert Charles Reinhard, a carpenter, born in Baden, Germany about 1874 and came to NY as a child in the early 1880's. This was her second marriage as noted on their marriage certificate (#6031) in Brooklyn on 20 Nov 1898, giving her name as Caroline Elizabeth Chamberlain, maiden name Chapman.

In 1900, Albert and Caroline (noted as Elizabeth on the census) were living on Sackett St. in Brooklyn. After Caroline's death in 1912, Albert married widow Katie Schieber and by 1920 they moved to New Jersey where he died in 1954.
