Due to the death of the parents the family was left penniless. After the civil war ended the kids headed west and spread out over Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska. It appears that John and Mary Ann (Hobbs) Roseberry took care of the younger kids until they could take care of themselves.
From the U. S. Census we know that in 1850 Isaac H. Hobbs was living at home in Gilmer Twp., Adams Co., IL with his parents and family. This was the same in 1860.
On March 2, 1862 Isaac H. Hobbs married Keziah Hays (or Hayes). They had at least six children. Mary Ellen was born in July 1863, William J. was born in April 1864, Cyrene (?) was born about 1866, John Elwood was born on March 25, 1868, Emma E. was born about 1869 and Ann Amelia "Amanda" was born on April 27, 1870.
In 1870 we find Isaac and Keziah with the family living in Richmond Twp., Ray Co., MO. In 1885, from the KS state census, we find them living in Chelsea Twp., Butler Co., KS. In April 1886 the family moved to Lane Co., KS.
In June 1891, Keziah died and was buried in the Shields Cemetery, Lane Co., KS. On March 6, 1893, Isaac H. Hobbs married Martha A. Owings, nee Choat, in Dighton, Lane Co., KS.
In the 1900 census, Isaac H. is living in Fairview Twp., Frontier Co., NE with his son John E. Hobbs and his family.
On February 5, 1906 Isaac H. Hobbs passed away in Eustis, Frontier Co., NE and was buried in the Westview Cemetery at Eustis, NE.

Death of Isaac H. Hobbs
Aged Father of J. E. Hobbs Responds to Long Roll.
Death invaded the Hobbs family last Monday night , when at 11 o'clock, Isaac H. Hobbs passed away at the home of his son, J. E. Hobbs.
Mr. Hobbs had a severe attack of pneumonia a few weeks ago, but had practically recovered from his illness. He was able to be up and around and came down town. His friends were glad to greet him upon his recovery. It seems he was too active and he suffered a relapse. His advanced years were against him and he steadily declined, death coming to his relief Monday night.
Had he lived until the 13th of next July, Mr. Hobbs would have been 75 years old. He was born in Columbus, Ill. In 1893 he came to Eustis and has made his home most of the time with J. E. Hobbs.
For over thirty years the deceased had been a consistent member of the Dunkard church and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him.
The funeral occurred Wednesday forenoon, the remains being laid to rest in the Eustis Cemetery, Rev. George Michler of Cambridge, conducting the service.
Mr. Hobbs' wife died in Kansas, in 1891, and he leaves three children to mourn his loss, J. E. Hobbs, one of Eustis' prominent merchants, Mrs. T. A. Brown and Jeff Hobbs, residing east of Eustis seven miles.
