This is a cenotaph. Rachel (Brackett) Newcomb's burial site is unknown. This monument was placed in the Hancock Cemetery as a memorial for Rachel and other members of her family.

Rachel Brackett, daughter of Peter and Rachel Brackett was baptized at All Saints, Sudbury, Co. Suffolk on April 28,1614. She married Francis Newcomb at All Saints, Sudbury, Co. Suffolk, May 27, 1630, and they came to Massachusetts Bay together in 1635 on the ship "Planter."

Rachel Brackett, daughter of Peter and Rachel (_____) Brackett was baptized at All Saints, Sudbury, Co. Suffolk on Apr 28,1614. She married Francis Newcomb at at All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk, 27 May 1630, and they came to Massachusetts Bay together in 1635 on the "Planter.".
They had ten children: Rachel, John, Hannah Thorp, Mary Deering Spear, Sarah, Judith Jennison, Peter, Abigail, Leah Price, & Elizabeth Pidge Emery.

Rachel (Brackett) Newcomb was sister of RICHARD BRACKETT {1632, Boston} and PETER BRACKETT {1636, Braintree} and stepdaughter of MARTIN SAUNDERS {1635, Boston}. (See sketch of Richard Brackett for more distant connections to other Great Migration immigrants.
