William Wilhelm Berkstresser was the son of John W. Berkstresser and Barbara Sheckler. He married Elizabeth Putt and they were the parents of 6 children. Elizabeth died in 1861 and he married Catherine (Cassie) Griffith in 1862. They were the parents of 10 children. He was a resourceful man with many skills of the land and built his house and farmed 150 acres. He was a member of the Wheel, the I.O.O.F and was a Mason. He was a pioneer in Morgan County and with his many skills was important to the growth of Morgan Co. The Berkstresser's were one of the oldest families of Morgan migrating from Germany. William donated the land for the Antioch Church and cemetery.
