Nola Fay "Williams" Lewis, 88 of Capps and the Hillcrest
Nursing Home, died Sat. morning Sept.15,2001, at the North
Ark. Regional Medical Center surrounded by family members

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sept.18,2001,at the
Christenson Funeral Home with Bro. Mitchell Rains officiating, Bro. David Stratton will assist. Burial will
be in the Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbears will be Steve Horn, Mickey Horn, Jamie Horn,
Justin Dillon, Johnny Lewis and Jonathan Bradley.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Sept.17,2001 at
Christenson Funeral Home Chapel.

The daughter of the late James William Williams and Alice
Jane "Ott" Williams was born April 2,1913, at Pine Thicket
near Dennard, Ark. After completing the eighth grade in
school, she came to Harrison at the age of 15 to help care
for a sister who was ill. She met her future husband
Columbus Samuel Lewis in 1929. After a short courtship
they were married in the Boone County Courthouse,on Sept.
28th of that year. They were to celebrate their 72nd
wedding anniversary later this month.

After residing in Harrison for two years they moved to
Capps with their infant son. After the birth of their
first daughter, they built their present home, where they
resided for 62 years, just North and West of Capps. Another son was born there in 1943, the couple then moved
to Tulsa, Ok. where Columbus worked for Douglas Aircraft
Corp.They made the trip in a 1929 Model A Ford. In 1944
Fay returned to Harrison for the birth of her fourth child
a daughter, then in 1945 they moved back to the Capps
Community and reestablished residency in the small frame
house they had built with a savings of just two dollars.

In the summer months of the mid-1940's Fay worked at the
old Oxford Canning Factory at Capps, then she worked for
Dr. Ulys Jackson as a Practical Nurse, when the Boone
County Hospital opened in 1950 she worked there for several
years. She latered retired in the mid 1950s after working
for Houston Etheridge and Wayne Smith in their medical Lab.

Fay enjoyed her membership in the Capps Community Club and
the Capps Presbyterian Church and was an avid designer and
seamstress of handmade quilts. She enjoyed outdoor camping
and visiting her many friends and relatives.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her sister
Flossir Hayes and four brothers Elmer Williams, Vester Doy
Williams,Marvin williams and James Delbert Williams-- and
a son-in-law, Upton Horn.

She is survived by her husband, Columbus Samuel Lewis of
the Hillcrest Nursing Home and her children, Columbus
Samuel "Sam" Lewis Jr. and wife Wanda; Joyce Rains and
husband, Mitchell; Bill Ray Lewis and wife, Judy; Glenda
Sue Ruble and husband, David.

Surviving her also are two sisters, Elsie Lunsford of
Morrilton,Ar. Opal Birchfield of Clinton,Ar. and one
brother, Ray Williams of Sacramento, California.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great--
grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. many
loving nieces, nephews and friends who survive to honor
her memory.

Fay was a kind, compassionate and loving wife and mother,
and though she has gone to be with her Heavenly Father,
her earthly presence will be missed by those who knew of
her, loved her and respected her personality.
