"Hop" Gibson was a carpenter. Lived for several years at the old water mill at the mouth of Sandlick Creek, then moved to the old Steve Adams' homeplace on Little Cowan Creek. Both he and his second wife, Manerva Adams, are buried in the Hop Gibson cemetary on Little Cowan. His first marriage to Victoria Bostic ended with her death. They had one daughter together: Nora who was born on February 8, 1899. His children with Manerva are: Thelma (3/18/1903), Edwin Cyrus (5/4/1905), Beulah (9/20/1907), Geneva (1/16/1910), John (died as an infant), Louama (12/18/1913), twins Mattie Vern and Minnie Vae (9/22/1916), Virginia (4/15/1919) and Willa June who was born in June and died in December of 1922.
