Nathaniel Lovell Edgeworth was the eldest son of Richard Edgeworth (1764-1796) and his wife, Elizabeth (Knight) Edgeworth; and the grandson of Richard Lovell Edgeworth (1744-1817), the Anglo-Irish inventor. He served in Rutledge's 3rd SC regiment during the War of 1812. He settled in Tuscaloosa, Alabama prior to 1860 and is buried in an unmarked grave in the Greenwood Cemetery, near the corner of 10th.
