MRS KEEFE, A PIONEER, DIES MONDAY
Death this week called on one of the few remaining pioneers of Tuolumne county when Mrs Josephine Keefe, 82, a native and life long resident of Sonora died at a local hospital Monday noon.
Mrs Keefe was a well known and beloved music teacher and taught piano to many of the prominent musicians and music enthusiasts. For many years she was accompanist at the Sonora Theater as well as being the organist at St James Episcopal church of which she was a faithful parishioner. She was particularly well known for her memories of facts and fables about the early days of Sonora and was a storehouse of information for those seeking accurate information concerning the early history of the community.
Final rites were said at St James Episcopal church yesterday morning at ten o'clock, internment was in the Park View Crematorium in Stockton.
Mrs Keefe is survived by a sister, Mrs Jessie Hockett of Gustine, two nephews and other relatives among whom is Sgt Robert Morse. USA, now serving overseas.
