April Denise Morgan Bartine, born June 18, 1974 to Paul & Barbara Morgan, passed away 9:30 am, August 20, 2009 after a two year battle with metastatic breast cancer.

April was a graduate of Knoxville Bearden High School and UNC at Asheville.

April's warm, capable and cheerful spirit was a perennial ray of sunshine, dealing a day in, day out blow to her cancer. Likewise, April never allowed her illness to interfere with her sense of purpose and her dedication to her position serving students at Pellissippi State Technical Community College.

When April heard that she was in the last stage of her disease, she responded, "I'd like to have a house party blow-out, with all the people I love." Within 24 hours there were 3 wedding tents set up in her parents' back yard, tropical island-themed decorations, island music and a sandy beach complete with 80 adoring guests ready to celebrate her life with her. "That was better than most wedding receptions I've been to" was a common comment. It was an indication of the love and dedication that her friends and family feel towards her, knowing her to be one of the bravest, warmest souls we've ever had the privilege to have in our lives.

April left behind her loving husband of 9 years, Mac Bartine; her parents, Paul and Barbara Morgan; her grandmother, Sylvia Payne, her sister, Marsha Morgan Smith, brother-in-law, Chris Smith, nephew, Townsend Smith; aunts and uncles, Sylvia Anne Payne and Hank Hermosillo, Carolyn Payne Walsh, Tom Arsenault, David and Sue Morgan, Sam and Marti Qualls and many special cousins. She leaves behind her loving in-laws, Dave and Judy Bartine; brothers-in-law, David and Ben Bartine and sister-in-law, Becky Carter.

She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Dr. F.H. Payne and Fred and Beulah Morgan. She leaves behind sisters in spirit, Karen Claussen Bishop and Valerie Smith Collins; dear friends, Brandon Johnson and Brandon Beavers along with too many other friends and family to mention in one brief article.

She will be dearly missed- never forgotten by her beloved friends and family. Memorial service, 11 am, Saturday in the chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home - Fountain City with Rev. David Jackson and Robert Smith officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
