Juanita P. Semple of 204 S. Gardner St. died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Mrs. Semple had worked for the Benton Evening News. She was now assisting at the family owned Dairy Queen in Christopher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors Club. She was born in New Haven to Edwin and Ada Mae (Jenkins) Parkhurst. She married Robert Semple. He died Sept. 17, 1967.

Survivors include three daughters, Greta Schoenenberger of Lake of Egypt, Candy Minton of West Frankfort and Pamela Smithpeters of Carterville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jean Parkhurst of Harnsburg; and one sister, Bernadine Griffith of Tucson, Ariz. Her parents, two sisters, Alma Hedges and Pava Poole, and five brothers, Ebert, Glen, Ray, John and Max Parkhurst, also preceded her in death.

Services at First Baptist Church, with burial in Tower Heights Cemetery. Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in charge.
