He was the son of Milton Lane BOND & Maude A. MATTICE.
His wife was Ethel Viola SUMMERLAND, who he married on May 22, 1935, in Ashley Co., AR.
Children: Patricia Ann, Melvin C. & Maudie L. BOND.
Poem written by his son Melvin the day his father passed away
Awakened by the ringing phone
Maudie told of our father's passing.
The emptiest feeling I've ever know,
Yet, so full of life everlasting.
He was the rock
On which I always leaned.
One of Christ's flock
A shepherd himself, it seemed.
I'll remember Dad every time I bait a hook
Or when I watch a basketball game.
I'll remember Dad every time I read a book
Or simply when I write my name.
I never saw Dad shed a tear, at least I don't recall.
And rarely did he laugh out loud, though his sense of humor wasn't small.
He never drank of spirits, nor did he curse at all.
But when I needed him, he always stood up tall.
Thank you, Dad, for everything.
I'll hold you in my heart.
When choirs of angels start to sing
I'll recognize your part.
