Elizabeth Miller and Eli Witt were married on Sept. 9, 1841 in Greene County, IL. The Miller families settled in Greene County around 1821 along with the John Finley family. On May 11, 1882 The Texas Baptist Newspaper of Whitesboro stated: "Mrs. Eli Witt of this place passed to her reward Monday morning, May 1st. Her husband has lived here for years as a Baptist preacher. She died of Flux. Her husband, children and grandchildren all have the tender sympathy of the Pastor." Their known children were Mary Ellender, Sarah Elizbeth, John Hardin, Marsalles W, Wade Hampton and Lucy Virginia.
