Leonal “Nonie” E. Faulkingham, 97, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2020. He was born February 2, 1923 in Jonesport, the son of the late William and Katie (Alley) Faulkingham. Nonie worked as a lobster fisherman for many years and later as a Jonesport-Beals school bus driver and custodian. He will be remembered as a member of the country and western band, Nonie and the Seacoast Ramblers, who performed on TV and radio during the 1960s. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Jonesport and a member of The Fraternal Order of the Red Men, America’s oldest fraternal organization, promoting patriotism. He also served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Nonie is survived by his children, Bonnie S. Sargent of Groton, Mass., Susie M. Shabanian and husband, Ishkhan, of Waltham, Mass., Cathy L. Searfoss and husband, Craig, of Gorham, Maine, and Wade G. Faulkingham Sr. and wife Randi, of Jonesport, Maine; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with another due in July; 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ramona “Mone” E. Faulkingham, 8 brothers and 7 sisters. He will be missed and fondly remembered. His strong faith, strength and humor will live on in his family and friends.
Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
