John Anthony Wessel was born November 22, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to John W. and Marie Inez (Holder) Wessel. He passed away December 9, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, spending time in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, John went into the construction business where he learned and hone his construction skills.

In 1996 John went into Federal Service working for the US Army Corp of Engineers as a construction representative. John used his construction skills to support the US Army Corps of Engineers mission and gained the respect and trust from all he worked with. His primary work location was Buffalo, New York, but he also worked at many other locations in New York, Ohio, Iraq and Afghanistan. John retired from Federal Service on June 30, 2012. After retiring, He moved to Belton, Missouri with his wife Debora to support her career.

John was married three times, first to Judy, then to Casey and last to Debora. He had five children and two stepchildren, Tony, Tasha, Tara, Eric, Morgan, Kenny and Michael.

He enjoyed fishing, baseball, watching sports and spending time with his loved ones, family and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Wessel and 1 brother Jim Wessel.

He is survived by his wife Debora Wessel; 5 children, Tony Wessel (Sillya), Tasha Wessel, Tara Gullo (Tim), Eric Wessel, and Morgan Wessel; 2 step children, Kenny and Michael Morton; 2 sisters, Pat Vanhoogstraat (John) and Cathy Wessel and 10 grandchildren.
