BURKE, James C. of Jacksonville. Age 74. Died 01/1969 (Friday) in a Jacksonville hospital after an extended illness. Services held (Saturday) from First Methodist Church in Jacksonville. Burial in the Jacksonville City Cemetery. Rev. Ernest Phifer, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiated. Thompson-Elliott Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

BORN 8/03/1894. Mr. Burke was a member of the First Methodist Church and member of the Men's Wesley Bible Class. Members served as honorary pallbearers. He was a native of Panola County and had lived in Jacksonville since 1929. He was a retired school teacher and a retired employee of J.L. Brown. Member of Masonic Lodge, American Legion and WW-1 veteran.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Carrie Burke; son, James M. Burke of Houston; 3 daughters: Mrs. Ruth Shead of Tulsa, OK; Mrs. Martha L. Barnes of Ft.Worth and Mrs. Genevieve Luce of Jacksonville; sister, Mrs. T.F. (Eva) Locklin; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
