Jasper was fondly called "Uncle Jack". His parents are Jesse Pery Pulley and Mary Susan Rasco.

Jasper married Nancy Jane Weatherman February 13, 1873 in Marion, White County, Arkansas. They had seven children: John Wesley, Mary Lucinda (Mollie), William Jesse, Lillie Susan, Jasper Gibbs (Jr), Nancy Jane (who died in Arkansas) and Demarice Catherine. Jasper raised one step-daughter, Hannah.

Jasper Gibbs, Jr. told the story of the family coming to Texas sometime between 1886 and 1900. They paid $1 per person for the privilege of riding in a boxcar. People got off the train when it reached the area in which they wanted to settle. The Pulleys came to Comanche county where they had family.
