Mary Sue Ritchie, 66, of Bridgewater, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at her home. She was born in Highland Co., VA on July 17, 1942, and was a daughter of the late Roy C. and Adeline (McCray) Bodkin. Mary Sue was an avid gardener and loved to work with her flowers. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing Sunday lunches for her family. She was a member of the Clover Hill United Methodist Church. She graduated from North River High School in 1960. Mary Sue was united in marriage June 15, 1963 to Graydon C. Ritchie, Jr. who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons Jeff Ritchie & wife Julie, and Dennis Ritchie & wife Autumn, all of Bridgewater; a sister, Marie Layman of Linville; two brothers, Leroy Bodkin of Dayton and Glenn Bodkin of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, Maggie Ritchie, Jesse Ritchie, Marty Ritchie, Morgan Ritchie and Maddie Ritchie all of Bridgewater. A funeral service will be held at the Clover Hill United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 with Rev. Robert N. Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow at the Clover Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
