On Tuesday, March 24th, 2020, Natalie Janet Bloom peacefully passed away at River Garden Hebrew Home. A longtime Jacksonville resident, Natalie was born August 4th, 1921 in New York City and raised in Savannah, GA where she spent her childhood years.
Survived by four children, Patty Nussbaum, Malcolm Bloom and wife Sharon of Jacksonville, Beth Kochba and husband Avi of Virginia, and Nancy Loventhal of Tennessee;
Natalie was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Joseph Avern Bloom and son Russell Joseph Bloom.
She was devoted to her children and grandchildren; Lindsay Nussbaum, Billy Nussbaum and wife Lindsey, Abigail Gomez and husband Tyhler, Hannah Szafaryn and husband Joe, Jaime Bloom and wife Yohana of Jacksonville, Justin Davis and Natalie Loventhal of Tennessee, David Kochba and wife Rachel, Dana Kochba, and Jonathan Kochba and wife Lara of Virginia. In addition, she was a loving great-grandmother to six.
A graduate of Lee High School, Class of 1939. Natalie was very involved in the Jewish community, serving as a dedicated board member of Congregation Ahavath Chesed for twenty years, a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women, a life member and past President of the Jacksonville Chapter of Hadassah, a member of the Cummer Art Museum, and the League of Women Voters.
Natalie had many interests and was actively involved in the local community; whether it be playing tennis or bridge, volunteering her time to those in need, supporting the arts, or attending various events that her children and grandchildren participated in. She showed her love through cooking, always welcoming friends and family to a seat at her table. Natalie leaves behind a legacy to be remembered by all whose lives she has touched.
Natalie was buried in accordance with her faith on Thursday, March 26, 2020 in Temple Cemetery, with Rabbi Robert Goodman officiating.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. May her name always be for a blessing
