James Theodore Switzer, 89, passed away on February 25, 2020. James was born on December 28, 1930 to Theodore and Marjorie Switzer in Mustang, Oklahoma.

James was a graduate of Capitol Hill High school in 1949 and after that served his country in the US Air Force from 12/1950 to 12/1954 and spent a majority of his tour in France.

At 14, James started designing, building, and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He had a green thumb and was a man who could fix anything! James was no stranger to hard work, he spent 41 years with SW Electric before he retired in 1996. When James wasn’t flying airplanes, he was watching OU Football, The Price is Right, Wheel Of Fortune, Blue Bloods and the Good Doctor. He loved any movie with airplanes too, including The Tuskegee Airman, Midway, and any John Wayne Movie. James was described at laid back, easy going, kind, with a hint of sarcasm, who enjoyed spending time with his family.

James is survived by his wife, Catalina; 4 children, son James Steven Switzer and wife Tina, Daughter Pamela Michelle Henson. Son Michael Lee Switzer. Daughter Diana Kaye Plackemeier and Husband Marty. 8 grandchildren;5 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way! Sister, JoAnn Calhoun.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Marjorie.

Visitation for James will start on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 1:30 pm. There will be a wake Monday, March 9th at 7:00 PM at John Ireland Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 am on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel.
