Born in raised in Denver CO, he attended Colorado School of Mines for two years before enlisting in the army infantry in 1943 (89th division). He received a purple heart for an injury in battle., He re-turned to CSM and graduated in 1948. He obtained a master's degree from the University of Washington in 1951 in Mining Engineering.
In 1950 he married Carol Willey to whom he was married to for 57 years, before her death in 2007. He worked at Underwriter's Lab for 32 years in Chicago, Santa Clara, CA, nationally, and in Asia supervising the testing of fire safe materials. Alex became a Baha′i in 1963 and was active in his local community and fervently believed that we will one day achieve world unity. In 1988 he retired to North Carolina, and at age 91, he drove cross-country in a move to be nearer to his family in California.
He is survived by his brother, his son and his daughter and his three grandchildren and one beloved great-grandson. "The betterment of the world can be accomplished through pure and goodly deeds, through commendable and seemly conduct." Baha′u′llah
Burial was at the Auburn Cemetery.
