Carter Meade Conley Hardesty, 69, of Berryville, died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Hardesty was born January 13, 1934 in White Post, VA, the daughter of the later Frank G.G. Conley and Eleanor Meade Conley. She was a homemaker and was known as the "Card Lady" for her ministry of sending cards to those in need of encouragement and inspiration.
She was a member of Crums United Methodist Church were she taught Sunday School for 25 years, leader of Crums Methodist Youth Fellowship for several years, and co-chairman of the Lord's Acre Committee from 1967 to the present. She was a Cub Scout den leader and a member of the Democratic Women's Committee.
She married John D. Hardesty on October 3, 1953 at Meade Memorial Church in White Post.
Surviving with her husband, Jack, are her son John D. Hardesty, Jr. and his wife Cathy and grandchildren John Douglas Hardesty, III and Catherine Elizabeth Hardesty; her son David Meade Hardesty and his wife Debbie, and grandchildren Daniel Meade Hardesty, Matthew Clayton Hardesty, Leslie Ann Hardesty, and David Meade Hardesty, Jr., all of Berryville; and her sister Fritzie Conley Carper of White Post.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Friday, October 17, 2003 at Crums United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra H. Stamey officiating. Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be John D. Hardesty, Jr., David M. Hardesty, John D. Hardesty, III, Daniel M. Hardesty, Matthew C. Hardesty, and David M. Hardesty, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Thursday at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.
