Art was born on October 15, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Harold and Cecilia (Krzewina) Meyer and was the youngest of their children. He was raised in the Catholic faith. After graduating in 1967, Art proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Miss Debbra Fiebrink on April 16, 1974 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together they welcomed three children. Art and his family relocated to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in 1977, settling in Escatawpa, MS. He was a machinist and worked for Pemco Naval Engineering in Pascagoula, MS. for over forty two years before retiring this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Cecilia Meyer; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth (Meyer) Steiner and W. "Buddy" Steiner; brother-in-law, M. "Mike" Buehl; and a nephew, "Stevie" Buehl.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, David (Katie) Meyer, Escatawpa, daughters, Carrie (Chris) Malphrus, Ridgeland, S.C. and Jennifer (Brad) Haney, Hardeeville, S.C.; sister, Joan M. Buehl, Flowery Branch, GA.; brother, Clarence (Candy) Meyer, Pensacola, FL.; 5 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Meyer has requested there be no public services held. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 12:30 pm with interment in the Biloxi National Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors.
