Bonnie Brashear Decker, age 77, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania died at her home on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

She was born on September 13, 1941 in Uniontown to T. Lackey and N. Mildred (Hager) Brashear.

Bonnie graduated from Uniontown High School in 1959 and completed an elementary education degree from California University of Pennsylvania. Bonnie’s passion was teaching and inspiring children with her creative spirit. She enjoyed a good book, loved antiquing and animals, and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy!. In Bonnie’s baby book, her mother wrote: “A sweeter Bonnie never lived, so pretty big brown eyes, and her smile is worth a million dollars.” Family and friends can attest to this; Bonnie’s beauty, compassion and wisdom touched the lives of so many.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edison; her two children, Jason (Gina) Decker and Jennifer (Joseph) Winge; three grandchildren, Andrew and Adam (Decker) and Benjamin (Winge); a brother, Thomas L. (Sally) Brashear; a sister, Michele (Warren) Sordill; four nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Janet Decker and Eileen (Decker) Roberts.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cherie Brashear.

The family is respecting her wish not to have services, so a private gathering to honor Bonnie’s life will occur later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Fayette Friends of Animals, 223 Searights Herbert Rd., P.O. Box 1282, Uniontown, Pennsylvania 15401.
