Weston S. Palmer, 59, of 1311 6th Ave., Watervliet, proprietor of Palmer’s Superette for the last 38 years, died Saturday at Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Albany after a long illness.

Mr. Palmer was born in Troy, son of the late Alfred and Nettie Webster Palmer. He was educated in Watervliet schools and had been a resident of Watervliet since childhood. Mr. Palmer was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theatre. He was a member of Watervliet City Post, VFW, and of the United Methodist Church of Watervliet.

Survivors include his wife, the former Sophia Barron; one daughter, Miss June E. Palmer of Belmont, Calif., and two sisters, Florence and Ruth Palmer, both of Troy. One niece and a nephew also survive.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, with Rev. Richard L. Sears of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
