The following is paraphrased from the obituary that appeared on the local Sherman, Texas newspaper, Sherman Democrat; page A-2, June 2, 1953.
Sherman - Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas the son of Mr. & Mrs. R. V. Kirkpatrick. He had been ill about three weeks and died in Sherman of a heart ailment at a local hospital.
He was a member of the Methodist Church. He married Miss Elsie Mae Kirkpatrick, the daughter of Minnie Etta and W. Riley Kirkpatrick in Sulphur Springs on February 13, 1937. They were blessed with one child.
They came to Sherman in 1940, and he was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Bricklayers and Mason International Union.
Left to share his memories, he is survived by his wife Mrs. Elsie Kirkpatrick of Sherman; one son, Mike Kirkpatrick of Sherman; his parents; two sisters, Mrs. J. Harlan West of Sulphur Springs and Mrs. Wayne P. Lill of Ontario, California.
Funeral services were held at the Barrett Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Ed Barcus, minister of the Travis Street Methodist Church, officiating.
