"DEATH OF LYMAN BREESE.
FOR NEARLY SEVENTY YEARS HE WAS A RESIDENT OF WYOMING.
The death of Lyman V. Breese of Wyoming removes one of the best known residents of Wyoming Valley and one who was generally esteemed. He sustained a couple of strokes of paralysis last week and on Saturday suffered another, which resulted in his death.

Mr. Breese belonged to a family that figured conspicuously in the early history of Wyoming. He was born there on Aug. 3, 1830, and was in his 69th year. His father was a tanner by trade and for a long time previous to his death Mr. Breese was associated with him in business. After the death of his father Lyman Breese continued the tannery business until about twenty years ago, when he began farming, an occupation he has since followed. In 1853 Mr. Breese married Miss Elizabeth Woodhouse, a resident of Wyoming, who survives him. To them were born five children -- William, who was drowned twenty years ago at Carpenters Creek when 9 years of age; Mrs. Eva Trenchard of Bridgeton, N.J. and who was one of the victims of the Atlantic City railroad accident in the summer of 1897. There are three children living -- Marshall Breese, who Is married and resides at Forty Fort; Anna, wife of Charles Tracy of Wyoming, and Vint L Breece, who is married and lives in Wyoming. Mr. Breese is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Lucy Sperling, who lives in that place. Mr. Breese was respected by all who knew him. The funeral will take place on Wednesday at 10 o'clock from his late home. Rev. Wilson Trieble, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate, and Rev. Robert R. Thompson, pastor of the Baptist Church, will assist. The interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery." From The Times Leader, Wilkes-Barre, PA., February 22, 1898, page 12
