Mrs. Wray Dunton Dix, 100, died Monday at the home of her granddaughter here. Mrs. Dix was born in White Stone, Va., on May 9, 1885, to Americus W. Dunton and Mrs. Virginia Brooks Dunton. She lived in White Stone her entire life until about a year ago, when she moved here with her granddaughter, Mrs. Kitty Wray Juneau.
A graduate of Chesapeake Academy in Irvington, Mrs. Dix occasionally worked as a nurse for a White Stone physician, the late Dr. B.H.B. Hubbard.
In 1903, when she was 18, Mrs. Dix married Howard Eugene Dix. Mr. Dix died in 1959.
Mrs. Dix was a charter member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Kilmarnock when she was 9 and remained an active member until her death. She was a Sabbath school teacher and a member of the board.
She also had been a member of the Lancaster County Woman's Club and the White Stone Parent-Teachers Association.
Survivors include a son, C.B. Dix of Topping, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Hargrave of Dinwiddie, Va., and Mrs. Catherine Bellows of White Stone; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Kilmarnock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
