Burl Leslie Humphrey, 78, of Rogers, died August 2, 2007, at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital. He was born March 27, 1929, in Minco, Oklahoma, to William and Arminda (Charlton ) Humphrey. Burl was the loving husband of Reba (Baker ) Humphrey, father and Papa. He will be missed by all who knew him. Burl and Reba were married on January 14, 1956, and were blessed with 51 years together.

Burl was an Army Veteran. He was a Corporal who supervised a squad of 12 riflemen in advanced infantry training during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Rogers. Burl was well known for his humor and his ability to enjoy life to the fullest. He enjoyed going to church, playing bingo and spending time with his family and was never known to turn down a good dessert. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Edward, Odie, Jack and Dick; his sisters, Dora and Cora; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Faelyn Reading.

Burl is survived by his wife, Reba of the home; his children, Pamela Humphrey of Phoenix, AZ, Les Humphrey and his wife Kathy of Pea Ridge, Tina (Humphrey ) Mason and her husband David of Rogers, Lisa (Humphrey ) Reading and her husband Darrell of Rogers; and stepdaughter, Anne Baker of Rogers.

One thing that Burl excelled at in life was being a " Papa. " The lights of his life were his grandchildren. Each one of them had a special place in his heart. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Sara, Daniel, Disney, Ky, Laura, Nick, Jamie, Trey, Matt, Michael and Joy; and two great-granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, Juvenile Diabetes Association or the Autism Support Group of NWA.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers.

Funeral services will be held 10 a. m. Monday, August 6, 2007, at Grace Baptist Church in Rogers with Rev. Randy Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Bland Cemetery.
