IDA MAY HURD: 77, widely known Redondo resident, died Sunday morning at her home. MrsHurd recently suffered a fall which fractured 5 ribs & this was believed to have hastened her death. She had served as assistant postmaster at Redondo for 33yrs & had made her home there for 41yrs. A member of a pioneer family, MrsHurd was born 16 Mar 1864 at DeWitt IA, a dau of Mr&Mrs James Betts. In 1899 she came west with her husband & 5 children to Washington. Before moving to Washington she had lived at Des Moines IA. She was a member of the Methodist Church, a charter member of the Dorcas Ladies Aid Society & was an ardent worker in the local Red Cross chapter. She was married to Isaac Hurd in Kansas in 1883. He preceded her in death in 1938 at Redondo. Surviving are a son Wilmer-Redondo & a daughter MrsAlice Bringman-Redondo. The late Charles Betts was her brother. Final rites were conducted yesterday afternoon in the chapel of the Chittenden Funeral Home with Rev WE Callahan of the Kent Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Sumner Mausoleum.
