BIO:
Sarah Elizabeth Holmes was born January 24, 1838, at Kirtland, Ohio, the daughter of Jonathan and Marietta Carter Holmes. Her father was a bodyguard for the Prophet Joseph Smith. During the persecution, Sarah's mother and one of her children died; and Sarah was raised at the Mansion House by Elvira Cowles, a wife of the Prophet. Her first memories were of life there. She remembered seeing the Egyptian Mummies and the Urim and Thummim, and she was a friend of Porter Rockwell. She never forgot the last words of the Prophet to her: "God bless my little Sarah, you shall grow up and live to testify to my name in Zion."

On January 7, 1855, Sarah married Miles Weaver as a plural wife. In 1848, Miles had married Sarah Clark and they had four children by 1855. Miles was born in 1826 in Scio, New York, the son of Edward and Martha Raymer Weaver. The family joined the LDS Church and moved to Nauvoo where his father helped to build the Nauvoo Temple. When his father died there on September 2, 1842, his mother and her children started west. At Winter Quarters in Council Bluffs, Miles and his brother, Franklin, joined the Mormon Battalion. Miles and Franklin worked for Brigham Young, taking care of his cattle at Promontory and Provo.

Miles Weaver died December 7, 1855 on Antelope Island after bringing the cattle back from the Elkhorn Ranch.

On May 9, 1856, Sarah Holmes Weaver married Mile's brother, Franklin Weaver. Franklin had married Christianna Rachel Read in 1848 and then Sarah Clark, another widow of his brother Miles in 1855. Franklin Weaver was born in Scio, New York, the third son of Edward and Martha Raymer Weaver.

Franklin and his three wives moved to the Elkhorn Ranch in 1859 and they then moved into his three-room home in Millville in 1860. It is said that the three families lived together in harmony. Each wife had her own special assignment in caring for the family, and the children were raised as brothers and sisters.

In 1883, Franklin and his first wife, Rachel, moved to Bear Lake Valley where they helped settle Bennington, Idaho.

Because of the persecution against plural marriage, Sarah Clark Weaver settled in Gentile Valley, Idaho where she died in 1909. Sarah Elizabeth remained in Millville for the remainder of her life where she was well known as a practical nurse and midwife.

Children of Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Holmes Weaver were: Miles Franklin, Marriete, Marinda Vilate (Alexander S. Hargraves), Jonathan, Oscar, Louie David and Phebe May.
