Irma G Bernaix, 83 of Granite City died at 8:45am on Wednesday, July 30, 1997 at St. Mary's Hospital in Clayton, MO. She was born on March 25, 1914 in Granite City.
She was a clerk for six years at Newberry before her retirement in 1957. She was a member of Retail Clerks Local 435.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E Bernaix, who died in 1973, her parents, James Oscar and Bessie E (Shatzer) Hodshire; one brother, James W Hodshire; one sister, Dorothy Israel; and one grandson, Wayne Burris.
Surving are five sons, James A Bernaix, Donald E Bernaix and Carl E Bernaix all of Granite City. Walter L Bernaix of Marion, Ind. and Leonard E Bernaix of Kampsville, one daughter, Doris Treaster of Grantie City; one sister, Mildred Bell pf Granite City; 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997 at the Werner Chapel with Rev. Jamie Hahs officiating. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Nameokie Methodist Church.
