Miss Davis was the sister of General Jefferson C. Davis of the Union Army and holds a unique place in American history. Miss Davis was attending school in Charleston, S.C. at the beginning of the Civil War and was evacuated from Charleston with the troops following the evacuation of Fort Sumter.
