Hawk Eye, The (Burlington, IA) - Friday, May 5, 2000

Ella M. Jenkins, 85, of Farmington, died at 4 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Home in Keosauqua.

Born Feb. 12, 1915, in Revere, Mo., she was the daughter of Ottis and Adella Ascott Shuler. On Feb. 12, 1932, she married E. Paul Jenkins in Kahoka, Mo.

Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and operated the Shady Rest Nursing Home in Bonaparte for several years. She lived in Farmington for about 50 years.

She was a member of Farmington Methodist Church and Farmington American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Carroll Jenkins of Santee, Calif., James Ervin Jenkins of Farmington and Melvin Jenkins of Davenport; three daughters, E. Marie Toothacre of Jajoba Hills, Calif., Nelma L. Hammond of Jacksonville, Ark., and Vickie A. Randolph of Bonaparte; one sister, Alice Burke of Kahoka; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Darrell Henry of Keosauqua.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Jenkins will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hofbauer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.
