He was born March 30, 1943, in Chillicothe, to the late Frederick E. and Elinor I. Dorman Althouse. On May 28, 1979, he married the former Susan I. May who survives; also surviving are children, Ronald R. "Bo" (Jill) Newlan, Jr., of Hope Mills, NC and Kristina M. Althouse, of Chillicothe; grandsons including his best buddy and special grandson, Christian Althouse whom lived with the best papaw ever, Buddy and Lee Burris, Tyler and Trent Newlan and Timmy Lee Carl III; a great granddaughter, Lilly Burris; brothers, Larry (Sandy) Althouse, of Tennessee and Terry (Judy) Althouse, of Chillicothe; a sister, Eleanor Magill, of Chillicothe; a son-in-law, Burt Burris; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends, including a special friend, Alice Humelston, of Chillicothe.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Sue Burris; and a brother, Richard Althouse.
Jerry retired from the former Buckeye Steel Casting where he was a dedicated employee for 29 ½ years.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Glenn Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Charleston Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
