Jo Ann Compton passed away on the morning of February 28, 2020, surrounded by caregivers of Quail Gardens, Hope Hospices and family. Jo Ann was born in Springfield Mo. Her father was a carpenter and they moved around during the war years ending up in San Leandro CA in the early Forties where she attended middle and High School, being the first graduation class of the then brand-new San Lorenzo High School.
Soon after High School she met her future husband Robert who was in the Navy and returning from Korea. They were married in at Jo Ann’s parents’ house in in San Leandro, CA. in July of 1954. They lived in San Leandro for 9 years, moving to Pleasanton, CA. in 1965.
Jo Ann was a stay at home Mom for many years raising her two children Michael and Steven. During this time, she belonged to Resurrection Lutheran church was she was the organist and taught Sunday School for 30 years. In 1978, after her children were grown, she went to work for Bradshaw Inc. as an Administrative assistant, spending 10 great years with the company, thoroughly enjoying her work. She was also a long-time member of the Oakland Motorcycle Club Women’s Auxiliary.
Jo Ann is survived by her son Steve (Nanci) and grandchildren Sophia and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael in 1975 and her husband Robert in February 2019.
A visitation will be held at 10:00am, followed by services at 10:30am on March 20, 2020 at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore.
