WASHINGTONVILLE---The funeral for Frank W. Cotner, 70, Water Street, Montour County Democratic Party chairman and a retired US Marshal, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Washingtonville Lutheran Church by the Rev. David R. Hauck. Burial will be in Washingtonville Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cotner died yesterday morning in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Washingtonville in the home in which he was residing, August 22, 1913, he was a son of the late Hiram and Izora Heddens Cotner. He was married to the former Esther Lynn, with whom he observed a 41st wedding anniversary on July 11.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Washingtonville Lutheran Church and the Adult Sunday School class, where he attained 63 years of perfect attendance.
Mr. Cotner was a 1932 graduate of the former Turbotville Vocational High School.
At the time of his death, he was serving as president of the Turbotville Alumni Association; assistant director of the Montour County AAA; chairman of the Washingtonville Municipal Authority; assistant director of District 5 of the Municipal Association; and chairman of the Jane E. DeLong Community Hall Association, Washingtonville.
He was a member of the Danville Elks Lodge; Loyal Order of Moose, Danville; American Legion, Scranton; and the Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by a son: Elmer Lynn Cotner, October 31, 1977.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Mrs. Amy M. Williams of Bloomsburg; a brother: James H. of Watsontown RD 1; a sister: Mrs. Alda C. Arner of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg; and four grandchildren.
